The exhibits in City Hall Chamber Gallery are focused on topics of interest related to the downtown culture as well as cultural diversity. The exhibits are mostly group and focused on local community based artists. Annually one or more of the exhibits will specifically focus on either Hispanic American, Asian American or African American culture. Each year, this space is home to the annual Celebrating Life! A short distance from the gateway arches is the showgirl sign that features dice, poker chips stacked high enough to sit on, a roulette wheel, the city of Las Vegas logo and 50-foot-tall showgirls on the corner of Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard. Elements of the sign light up, so it’s gorgeous in the daytime or at night. Don Laughlin’s Classic Car Museums

Visit the Classic Car Museum Auto Exhibit at the Riverside Resort in Laughlin, Nevada that features over 80 of the world’s most distinctive automobiles. There are dueling piano shows at the following casinos: The Bar at Times Square in New York-New York, The Piano Bar at Harrah’s and Eastside Lounge at Encore. Eiffel Tower Light Show

Inspired by the Eiffel Tower’s illuminations in France, the enhanced lighting at the Paris Las Vegas attraction offers a free, recurring light show every 30 minutes from sunset to midnight. Website

Sinatra. Presley. Ali. Siegel. These legends left an everlasting mark on Las Vegas and helped our once-small town become the international landmark it is today. Come experience their glory and marvel at the growth of Las Vegas with a stroll through their History Hallway – located right off the casino floor in the El Cortez Hotel & Casino. The display is in a partnership with the Mob Museum.

The South Point Equestrian Center is the finest indoor horse facility in the country. Their complex includes a 4,600-seat arena, the Priefert Pavilion with two arenas, and 1,200 climate controlled horse stalls. Extraterrestrial Highway, UFO’s and Area 51

Take a drive 100 miles north of Las Vegas on the “Extraterrestrial Highway” (State Route 375) to Rachel, Nevada (population 48). That is the closest place to Area 51, perhaps the most famous top-secret air bases on the planet. You might spot an ET or UFO? Be sure to visit the Alien Research Center Gift Shop and the The Little A’Le’Inn.

Warning: Do not attempt to enter Area 51. The Federal Government has signs posted that trespassers may be subject to deadly force.

A majority of Las Vegans know First Friday. It is a monthly event that showcases local artists, musicians, makers and more. They provide a platform where everyone can celebrate the local culture and creativity in all its forms. While they are best known for their monthly arts & culture festival held in the Las Vegas Arts District, the First Friday Foundation extends its community outreach efforts well beyond the first Friday of each month. Fountain Show at Wynn

In the front of the Wynn Resort on the Las Vegas Strip they have a nice fountain show with music and lights. They also have a waterfall, that is a great place to take some photos. Website

Fremont Street Experience

The Fremont Street Experience (FSE) is located in Downtown Las Vegas. It is a pedestrian mall and attraction with a light show and live entertainment. The FSE starts at Main Street and ends at Las Vegas Blvd. The hotel casinos that pay for the FSE are Binion’s Gambling Hall, California, Circa, The D, Four Queens, Fremont, Golden Gate, Golden Nugget and Main Street Station. The FSE opened in 1995.

The Fremont Street Experience has three stages with live bands, dancing DJ’s and more. Most of these are “cover” bands and many are very good. Some of the bands include Spandex Nation, Monroy, Alter Ego, ’80’s Station, Crush, Garage Boys, Tony Marques, Zowie Bowie, Wonder Boogie, VCB, Empire Records, Rock Steady, Roxy Gun Project, Blue String Theory and many more.

Several times a year they have big name bands that play. An example of this would be when the National Finals Rodeo comes to town each December. They will feature Country Music bands on all three stages. The stages are on Main Street, 1st Street and 3rd Street.

The Viva Vision light show is an LED display on the “canopy” that runs along the Fremont Street Experience from Main Street to Fourth Street. It features different shows at the top of each hour from 6pm to 2am.

Current Viva Vision shows include: The Killers, Imagine Dragons – Home in Vegas, Shakira, Remix Your Mind: “MIXology”, The Chainsmokers, Stone Temple Pilots, Tiesto – A Town Called Paradise, Steve Aoki and others.

Gold Strike Hot Springs Trail

The most popular way to access the trailhead is off Highway 93. Park your vehicle in the free parking lot near the trailhead, then embark on a gravel trail that begins just before the Hoover Dam Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. From here, the trail descends down through Gold Strike Canyon all the way to the mighty Colorado River. The entirety of the Gold Strike Hot Springs trail is about two miles one way, but does incorporate a series of 20-foot rope climbs that are well beyond beginner level. Plan for about 3-4 hours of hiking and scrambling time in each direction, or a full day adventure if you really want to soak up this spring’s full potential. Website

Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs

The Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs are located in Grapevine Canyon on Spirit Mountain near Laughlin, Nevada, and are listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. The area is also known as Christmas Tree Pass. A short hike will reveal hundreds of panels of petroglyphs created between 1100-1900 AD and many rock shelters. Both the meaning of the glyphs and their creators remains unclear although the area was inhabited by the Mojave.

Green Valley Ranch

The District at Green Valley Ranch, has live music and entertainment, dozens of specialty and retail shops, restaurants, and special events throughout the year. Website

Hand of Faith at the Golden Nugget

In the September, 1980, Kevin Hillier took his new metal detector out for a spin in his tiny hometown of Wedderburn, Australia. Instead of a bottle cap or a paper clip, he found a 61-pound golden nugget barely a foot underground. Today, it makes its home in the Golden Nugget lobby.

The Hand of Faith is the biggest golden nugget in existence, the second-biggest ever discovered, and the biggest ever found with a metal detector. (And in case you’re wondering, Hillier made out just fine. He sold his golden nugget to the Golden Nugget for over a million dollars.) Website

Hemenway Valley Park in Boulder City

This park is comprised of approximately 10 acres and includes playground equipment, gazebos, basketball courts, horseshoe pits and more. One of this park’s main attractions is the Bighorn sheep that come down from the mountains to water and graze. Las Vegas Community Healing Garden

Open 7am-11pm daily. It was built in four days by community members and local businesses following the October 1 tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest music festival. The garden features a Remembrance Wall, a grove of 58 trees lining a paved path, shrubs and flowers, all encircling a beautiful oak tree – “the tree of life” donated by Siegfried and Roy. The 58 trees were planted to signify the 58 lives lost on that tragic evening. Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino has announced a free 3D
projection video show entitled The Lost City Show. Running every day from 10am – 11pm on the hour,

The Lost City Show, located in front of V Theater, was created with the help of innovative projection
mapping technology, which allows projections to envelop any surface and create surreal effects. Visitors
can watch fire, water, ice, earth and wind dance across the stone facade of V Theater and the

The striking arch overpass connects Arizona to Nevada over the Colorado River, and at 900 feet, it is the second tallest bridge in the USA, and located within the Lake Mead Recreational Area. Also known as the Hoover Dam Bypass, the bridge was completed in 2010, is free and easy to access, offering a bird’s eye perspective of the famed attraction. Website

Mike Tyson has been honored with a statue of himself outside Mulberry’s Pizzeria at Resorts World in Las Vegas. Tyson, whose biggest nights in the ring came in Sin City, is one of the greatest boxers in history. Website

Mount Charleston

Mount Charleston is the highest mountain in Clark County, Nevada. It is a year-round getaway for Las Vegas residents and visitors, with a number of hiking trails, a modest ski area, a hotel and a small restaurant. It is snow-capped for more than half the year. Website

The Nevada National Security Site offers free tours monthly. Tours are operated on a chartered bus with a restroom. Visitors depart the museum and travel 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, where you will cover nearly 250 miles of the Site. This is a very popular tour. Make reservations several months in advance.Website

“Pawn Stars” TV-Show Pawn Shop

The shop is open every day from 10am – 5:30pm, they are only closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving, and the Pawn Window for selling is open 24 hours a day. It is always free to visit the Pawn Shop and parking is also free. They are one of the top non-gaming tourist attractions so you can easily just take a cab or ride share here as well. Feel free to take as many pictures as you wish, however due to state law they ask that you refrain from taking pictures toward the pawn counter on your immediate left as you enter and no videos in the shop. Pee on the Berlin Wall

A large piece of the Berlin Wall is prominently exhibited inside the men’s room at the Main Street Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Men can “pee” on the wall. Women can view it with a security escort. Website

Pinball Hall of Fame

They opened April 15, 2021 at it’s new location at 4925 S Las Vegas Blvd. It is now twice the size of the old Tropicana PHoF location. The new site is on the Las Vegas Strip, right across from the ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign (and right across from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino). This brand new building is standalone and a dedicated museum, with pinball and nothing but pinball for 25,000 square feet.

The Pinball Hall of Fame hours are: Sunday – Thursday 10am to 9pm. Friday and Saturday 10am to 10pm. Website

Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings

The historic Pioneer Saloon is now the oldest bar in all of the Las Vegas area / Southern Nevada. It has survived the Spanish Flu, World War I, The Great Depression, Prohibition, World War II, The Great Recession and most recently, Covid-19. The property was made a Nevada historical landmark in 2007. The saloon, now famous around the world, is featured in numerous movies, music videos, TV shows, and even a video game. Railroad Pass opened as the Railroad Pass Club in 1931. It is the longest operating casino in Nevada. The casino was popular with Boulder Dam construction workers who lived in Boulder City, where alcohol and gambling were prohibited.

The “Safe Room” is located inside the casino. It features a mini-museum with some great artifacts and history about the Railroad Pass Hotel & Casino. Website

RyanHenge

This Stonehenge-inspired solar calendar stands alongside a landfill, in the middle of the Nevada desert. RyanHenge shares the property with the Western Elite Landfill, which is located about an hour north of North Las Vegas, and 30 minutes south of Alamo along the Great Basin Highway. No admission is required to access.

Searchlight Museum

Located in the Searchlight Community Center, the museum focuses on the fascinating history of this 100+ year old community. Founded in 1898, Searchlight takes its name from the Searchlight Mine. Mining history is a prominent part of the museums’ offerings, in addition to the many interesting residents of the community. Such people as Edith Head, who won numerous Academy Awards for her movie costume designs, John Macready, one of the two pilots on the first non-stop cross country flight over the United States, as well as the only three-time winner of the Mackay Trophy for the most important flight in a year, Senator Harry Reid, U.S. Senator from Nevada, and Scott Joplin, whose song, the Searchlight Rag, is named for the community, and many others have created a rich history which can be viewed in the exhibits. Covering the entire history of the community, the museum is a great way to learn about the people, businesses, and events which have made the desert community what it is today. Website

Seven Magic Mountains

Internationally renowned Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone’s Seven Magic Mountains is a large-scale site-specific public art installation located near Jean Dry Lake and Interstate 15, approximately ten miles south of Las Vegas, Nevada. Comprised of seven towers of colorful, stacked boulders standing more than thirtyfeet high, Seven Magic Mountains is situated within the Ivanpah Valley adjacent to Sheep Mountain and the McCullough, Bird Spring, and Goodsprings ranges of mountains. A creative expression of human presence in the desert, Seven Magic Mountains punctuates the Mojave with a poetic burst of form and color. Website

Shelby Museum & Showroom

Established in 2013, Shelby Heritage Center is home to over 30 Shelby vehicles and tells the story of Carroll Shelby along with the company he started in 1962. The Heritage Center is constantly revising its vehicle inventory and placement to keep things fresh. The 15,000 square foot Heritage Center sits adjacent to the 150,000 square-foot production facility.

The Smith Center is a performing arts center that also features art installations. Free walking tours are available for groups up to twenty people and last for one hour. Website

State Parks

The Nevada State Parks Library Park Pass program includes free day-use admission to any of the 27 state parks, including Valley of Fire, Spring Mountain Ranch, Cathedral Gorge and Big Bend of the Colorado (beach near Laughlin). Website

Sunset Park

Sunset is the largest and the most distinguished park in Clark County, Nevada.
