I saw this back in the Jumbo Video days and had forgotten almost everything about it. Too bad, its a pretty good Badlands inspired found footage film. Or a redneck Lost in America.

Review by VHSCreep ★★★
Seemingly based on the Starkweather case, but set in a more modern time, a spree killer couple carves a path of destruction on a road trip in search of a campsite. A tighter runtime and some basic editing would have made this a lot more impactful.
After looking up the director, I found he made a follow up to this in the same year: boxd.it/8dGE Looks like I'm going to have to watch this too. -

I just saw and heard Cassie from Euphoria.
It's pretty unsettling and at times disturbing but damn I was laughing at how stupid this people are. Annoyingly stupid.
Ig it passes the FF test. -

found footage. has a henry, portrait... feel i'd say. far too long, a bit tedious in spots for sure. but it has fun ff moments too.
also has a decent looking girl & a bit of nudity. should have had more. she looks great naked.

This movie had a lot of potential and actually had some good beats in it. It just needed to be edited better and could have used about 30 minutes less of screaming and crying.
A star and a half for the motel murder sequence. One star for an actually interesting ending.
Double feature this with Jimmy and Judy

Oh man a couple arguing for 90+ minutes just doesn’t do it for me I don’t care how
many murders they do -

I think I'd describe this as a found footage Natural Born Killers without any sort of social commentary. The action wasn't bad, but OMG they were annoying. There was absolutely no reason for this to be as long as it was. They could have easily cut 20 minutes of Darla-Jean either screaming or crying and I would have rated it higher.

Review by damosuzuki ★★★
found footage that goes for a 'henry: portrait of a serial killer' style/vibe.
this automatically starts at 3 stars for being found footage.
then:
-1 star for being pointlessly long. keep it short!
-0.5 for the lead guy being unbelievably loud and annoying.
+0.5 for the lead girl being attractive and being a fairly decent actress.
+0.5 for a nice little bit of nudity. if there's been a bit more, i'd have added a full star.that gets me to 2.5, which seems right-ish. it's a little better than that, and since it's the new year, i'll bump it up to a 3, in keeping with the spirit of the season & so on.

I wasn't expecting to find this movie as engrossing as I did. Definitely one of the better of these "serial killer diary" type of movies. Although it might be more accurate to call this a "spree killer diary". How things play out really felt like a natural result of the characters' flaws. Darla Jean and Dwayne actually became kind of endearing after awhile, until you learn just how old she is supposed to be and how psychotic Dwayne actually is. The cast do an excellent job of making things believable too, and the low-quality video makes it feel raw. The introduction of Billy in the second half also helped inject some momentum to the plot when it was starting to…
